The Media Protection Policy (CMMC Level 1) establishes requirements for how media containing Federal Contract Information (FCI) must be handled at end of life. It requires that all media be sanitized using an organization-specified standard before disposal, release, or reuse, with sanitization methods appropriately matched to the sensitivity of the information involved.
