The System and Communications Protection Policy (CMMC Level 1) establishes requirements for safeguarding network boundaries and isolating public-facing systems from internal networks where FCI resides. It requires documented external and internal boundary definitions with active monitoring and default-deny controls, and mandates that publicly accessible systems be physically or logically separated from the internal network using DMZs or dedicated VLANs.
