Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan Template

Use/reference this template as you build out your BC/DR Plan

A Business Continuity Plan consists of the critical information an organization needs to continue operating during an unplanned event. Many Business Continuity Plans will also integrate Disaster Recovery plans. When combined, the plan not only describes how operations will be restored, but it also documents the practices to restore access to data. If you're implementing our suggested control set, you'll also need to complete an annual BC/DR tabletop test. You can access that template here.

Commonly associated evidence:

  • Business Continuity Plan - This can be a stand-alone document or, if using our template, it will also include Disaster Recovery Plan.

  • Business Continuity Tabletop Test - This is typically a memo or similar documentation showing the plan was tested during the last 12 months.

  • Business Impact Assessment (or Analysis) - A document that summarizes which processes are to be considered in the Business Continuity Plan.

  • Disaster Recovery Plan - This can be a stand-alone document or, if using our template, this information will be included within the BCP.

  • Disaster Recovery Test - This is typically a memo or similar documentation showing the plan was tested during the last 12 months.

    • If using Strike Graph's combined BC/DR Plan Template, you may deactivate the DR-specific evidence items.

  • Restoration Test - Documentation that demonstrates that a data restore has been tested, but not that a tabletop exercise has occurred to test the BC/DR plan itself.

  • Review and then remove instructional text

  • Save in a centralized place

  • Attach to evidence either through Integrations, Automated Collection, or direct upload
